Solar Water Heater/Solar Geyser(2014)Phase II

The conventional sources of energy are coal and petroleum, which is exhaustible, therefore renewable energy sources are, required which are continually replenished such as sunlight. A solar geyser is the most competitive alternative to conventional water heating methods. Solar geysers run on a free fuel (i.e. sunshine), thus saving on energy costs that help recover its initial cost in just 2-4 years.

Keeping this fact in view; HESCO has developed a solar energy based system i.e., Solar water heater/Solar Geyser to help rural community and   women folk in the Himalaya region. It is under trial and has been found suitable.

Ø The community needs were studied and location specificity was kept in mind for development of the geyser.

Ø A solar water heater system is developed with low cost. It is within 50 and 100 liter capacity. The design development has been completed. The installation for feasibility trials is completed. The villagers are willing to adopt this innovative intervention which helps them for improving their life.

65 youths and other community people were trained on solar water heater /geyser technology.

Direct beneficiaries: 65

Enterprises Created: 01 (fabricators)

Income Enhanced/Savings Incurred:  On an average, Electricity save in (15% )

Developed By: Himalayan Environmental Studies And Conservation Organisation (HESCO)

Current Status:

A solar water heater system is developed with low cost. There is 50 and 100 liter capacity. The design development has been completed. The installation for feasibility trials is completed. The villagers are willing to adopt this innovative intervention which helps them for improving their life.
